I published a piece last week calling on Ohio Democratic Party Chairman David Pepper to step down from his post amid yet another losing cycle. Yesterday he announced his intentions to leave at the end of the year.

Now the hard work starts.

In my piece last week, I outlined the start of what the Ohio Democratic Party needs to do in order to get us back on the road to blue wins. I’d like to dive into some of these thoughts over the next few days with more Medium posts.

Some of what I plan to cover is what a staff built around continuous organizing could look like, how to better reach Black Ohioans, and the arduous work of building a bench of Democratic talent with statewide name recognition.

What I publish isn’t intended to be a comprehensive plan because Ohio is a multifaceted state so the new ODP chair will need to bring people with different skills and backgrounds to the table to be able to build and execute that plan. Therefore, I suggest others follow my lead and start sharing their thoughts on how Democrats can win in their community.
